For four days, the Hassan neighborhood vibrates day and night with the festival’s activities, significantly contributing to the local economy and the flourishing of businesses and hotels
What Impact for the
city ?
Valuation of the City’s Cultural Heritage
The city of Rabat, a UNESCO World Heritage site, already boasts significant cultural assets such as the Archaeological Museum, the Villa des Arts, the Renaissance Cinema, the 7th Art Cinema, the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Bank Al-Maghrib Museum, and more recently, the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, inaugurated in the fall of 2014. Additionally, numerous cultural institutes are present in the city. Certain locations blend cultural heritage with the environment, such as the Kasbah of the Oudayas and the archaeological site of Chellah, which hosts the Jazz au Chellah festival every year. Visa For Music has contributed to the enhancement of these sites through the activities it has proposed.
Development and Diversification of the City’s Cultural Offerings
By showcasing the artistic dynamism of the region on stage, Visa For Music positively influences the image of the area, which is often depicted in the media through its most tragic situations. Conversely, through Visa For Music, Rabat becomes the capital of a cosmopolitan and diverse region for four days, proudly embracing its richness. This enhancement of the region’s image also has a positive socio-economic impact as it strengthens the city’s tourist vocation and creates jobs.
The Visa For Music project aligns with the effort to develop and diversify the city’s cultural offerings, proposing once a year, for four days, a key event that has gathered over 5,700 professionals and 39,000 spectators from around the world for its seven editions, showcasing the 500 artists who make our region proud.
Energizing the Local Economy and Commerce
The economic impact of hosting national and international artists and professionals at Visa For Music can be measured by the associated consumer spending (accommodation, meals, various purchases, souvenirs, etc.).
It is evident that businesses in the sector (hotels, tourist attractions, restaurants, etc.) are the primary beneficiaries of a cultural project of this scale.
Contribution to the Promotion of Local Cultural Tourism
Aside from the direct target audience of Visa For Music—music professionals and artists—the event can encourage tourists to choose this destination at this time of year due to the appeal of the concerts. For tourists in general, the administrative capital of the kingdom has strengthened its position as a tourist destination and consolidated its cultural dimension, especially in terms of creating and diversifying content.
Visa For Music has successfully attracted new audiences, both young and old, to the evening showcases, even during a time that is not typically conducive to tourism (early autumn).
